Establishing a Joint Welding Laboratory with Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Proactively conduct research in intelligent welding technologies within strategic product and technology areas, such as lightweight aluminum alloy joining techniques for vehicle bodies, carbon fiber bonding processes, friction welding equipment development, and automated welding technologies for the shipbuilding industry.

 

Shanghai Junyi joined the Shanghai Welding Society in August 2016 and, in October, established the "Joint Welding Laboratory" in collaboration with the Institute of Welding and Laser Technology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The Welding Institute at Jiaotong University boasts internationally leading core technologies in automotive component joining processes and heavy-industry fields such as shipbuilding. It has achieved globally recognized milestones in the research on lightweight aluminum alloys for automotive body structures, having once served as one of the key technical teams tackling challenges in General Motors' all-aluminum vehicle body production line. Additionally, its established "Laser Manufacturing Laboratory" has been designated as an "International Science and Technology Cooperation Base" by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Shanghai Junyi has gradually developed an automation integration technology system uniquely tailored to Junyi, thanks to years of accumulated project implementation experience and relentless innovation in research and development experiments.
Innovation drives development—both parties are joining forces to proactively embark on foundational research in intelligent welding technologies within the welding/joining sector. Specifically, they will delve deeply into areas such as "lightweight aluminum alloy joining technologies for car bodies, carbon fiber bonding processes, and automated welding solutions tailored for the shipbuilding industry." Through concrete actions, they aim to explore new avenues for industry-academia-research collaboration, aspiring to lead the next wave of technological transformation in the field of welding automation—and upholding Junyi’s pragmatic business philosophy of innovation and forward-thinking.
